Archive for December 2010
Well folks, the year 2010 has finally come to a close. As always, there were good times and there were bad. This has been a successful year overall for the crew here at SUPERXOFFICIAL (and by crew I mean just me). We made some new friends, featured some new artists and hyped some new brands. Now comes the coined promise that we will be better than ever in 2011. Sh*t, I'm happy to just be doing what I'm doing in 2011. With hard work, dedication (sprinkled with a little luck and knowing the right people) comes success. 2011 may or may not be our year but our year will come. Now on to what you really came here for (i.e. the title of this post).
I was thinking long and hard all day about what to post for the final bow in 2010. Some Kanye? Naahhh. Oh wait, some Jay-Z?!? Nope. Hummm...Drake? I think we had 2010 posts of him already. Then I opened my inbox and my boy Terry Urban saved the day. How about a mixtape that doubles as a great set of songs you can listen too while you get ready to hit your New Year destination and project you can reminisce on what 2010 had to offer musically (was that a run-on sentence?). I love it when things come full circle. So here it is folks, the last post of 2010. An end of a decade and the beginning of a new year. Have a safe and Happy New Year everyone!

I have to work tomorrow (*sigh) but before I go I

It's been a while since my dude Philip Nicholas hit me up to feature new material from his label Rich Kids Club. My interest was peaked today when I got an e-mail to shine the spotlight on his new "BANG" watch. That's right boys and girls, while most of your favorite "brands" are out there making t-shirts, the crew over at RKC and Philip Nicholas are designing timepieces and other dope accessorises. That sweater vest you're rocking is cool, but lets fancy it up with a sick watch. BANG! Available 1/3/2011.
Leave it to Eminem to drop some heartfelt sh!t. Sounds unfinished (like no chorus unfinished) but I think we all get the point. I wonder who we'll hear on the hook? I cast my vote for Kid Cudi. The content and flow of the track with Cudder could be a monster!

New mixtape music from neighborhood Nip. Im diggin all the free music from artists now days, but when the hell are dudes like Hu$$le going to drop full length albums? I know sales have been slumping but some of us want to hear a complete thought out project available for purchase at our local music retailer. If you dont fall into that category then please proceed to the download link below.

Yep, that's what I was thinking (this is assuming you're thinking "daaayumm, that Ferrari is ridiculous!!!"). Hey Ferrari...you and me...my dreams...tonight. Yeah, we have a date.
Yeah, the Yung Joc feature threw off guard also but the track is pretty dope. Besides this feature with Wale, what the hell has Joc been up to? Anyone?
Download: Wale feat. Yung Joc - "911" / Hulkshare
When I first saw this track I went from "Yes! More confirmation that Detox is on the way." Then I saw it was an unreleased joint from a couple of years ago and went "Damn, fooled again by early blogging reports." In any case, you see the line up and the track is ill. You're still welcome

New music from Vado and DC's own Raheem DeVaughn from the lost Slime Flu sessions. Now Im off to go brave the malls and swipe some of these gift cards. Wish me luck!

Im a few weeks shy with this one but its all good. Featuring appearances from B.o.B, De La Soul, Gucci Mane, Phife Dawg, MF Doom & more. Not sure how you work features from Gucci Mane and De La Soul into a project but I guess that the beauty with no boundaries in Hip Hop.

Another solid project from Brooklyn's own Carlos St. John. And when I say solid, I mean SOLID! This dude murders each and every track on this mixtape. Don't waste time reading my description, do yourself a huge favor and download this for yourself. I have more after the Holiday treats coming your way so stick around.

Guess who's bizzack! I hope everyone had a wonderful X-mas holiday, spent some good times with family and got everything on their Christmas list. Now the weekend has passed its back to business as usual. First up on the list is a new set of visuals from Lupe Fiasco. This video is gives me further re-assurance that we will someday soon see the release of his much delayed album which has been pushed back one too many times. Lasers drops March 8, 2011 (we hope) and you can purchase this single now via lupefiasco.com/theshowgoeson/.
Its dope joints like this that make dudes like Bossman hate. Wale x Lloyd = a smash radio hit.
Download: Wale feat. Lloyd - "Let's Chill" / Hulkshare
So check it, Im up until the kids and wife fall asleep so I can wrap all these freaking presents. Until then Im going to keep posting all the hottest sh!t I can find on the internets. This next joint comes from a 2007 Weezy re-liberated by Streetrunner. Enjoy.

I guess a new mixtape release wasn't enough for Rozay.
Im a few days late with this one. In any case here's new visuals from Curren$y off his "Pilot Talk 2" album in stores now! Jets nig*a!
Download: Curren$y - "Daze of Thunder"
I'm about to head out for a bit and wrap up some last minuet shopping, but before I go I want to drop one more mixtape for your ear buds. This project comes from a local Baltimore band by the name of A Cool Stick. I came across their music via my dude E Major's web site and quickly took a liking to their sound. This mixtape is about a year old but the music sounds as fresh as if it were released yesterday. The group consists of four members: Luke O'Brien (Vocals), Sean McKeon (Guitar), Brendan "Fuzz" Floyd (Bass Guitar), and Brian Aranda (Drums). They have a Gym Class Hero's sound with an extra layer of funk added to get you in a head nodding party mood. Check 'em out and leave your thoughts in the c-section.

As I continue to stay on my mission and keep you looking fresh this winter, here's a detailed look at the new Play Cloths hooded varsity jacket. Decked out in the classic Red, White and Black colorway, this jacket is as dope as they come. Available in limited quantities (of course) so make sure you hit up your local boutique for availability or check out Standard in ATL. No word on a price tag, but I would say be sure to spend well over $200.

So my dude Dekk hit me up on Twitter about an artist he's been working with that he wanted me to check out. Dekk is a reliable source for dope tunes so I quickly followed his advice and looked up this dude Rockie Fresh. Rockie is a Chi Town emcee so with the likes of Ye and Lupe coming from his town I had high expectations. Did he live up to those expectations you ask? Does it look like his mixtape being posted on this site!?! Man, this dude is nice as sh!t. I've listened to this entire project beginning to end and cant find one track I dislike. If dude keeps dropping material like this, Rockie will be a regular here on the site. The Otherside features appearances from Mr. Hudson, Phil Ade, Rich Hil and more.
New music from Neako off his upcoming "#TheYP5: Yellow Edition.5"
Download: Neako feat. NASA - "Wzup" / Hulkshare
New visuals from DC's own Phil Ade off his recent project The Letterman hosted By Don Cannon. This track right here is my sh!t. I wish they would play it on the radio more often. Makes that 5'oclock ride go by way smoother.
Debuting in the footwear market just 4 months ago, Crooks & Castles are back with their new Holiday 2010 collection. Sticking with a simple design theme, these kicks are made to rock with just about any outfit you pull out of the closet. Wanna wear them to Church? Just grab the Taylor Black Perforated Leather shoes. Thinking about wearing a pair on a date? The Backstab Black Suede kicks will look great with that new pair of jeans. Boss invited you to hang out with him on his yacht? Sounds far fetched, but hey if the moment happens you have the Anchor Chocolate Nubuck kicks to rock with those linen shorts. No matter the occasion, the Crooks & Castles Holiday 2010 is here to save the day. Available now via the Primitive online shop.
